Washington State and its cities are responding to increased federal emphasis on transportation safety for ALL transportation modes.. State and local cities have strategic plans for eliminating traffic fatalities. Target Zero (state), Vision Zero (City of Spokane) To date, fatalities are trending upward rather than down, but there is continued planning (and money) put into changing the trend...City of Spokane recently won a $9.6 million bike/ped safety grant.

Bicycle Advisory Board - experienced cyclists review city projects that have a biking component. Meetings are open to the public in person or via Zoom and recorded for later viewing
City of Spokane Neighborhood Councils each year suggest and rank projects that improve traffic safety, spending funds from the photo red program. Get involved in your neighborhood council to help determine which projects are funded.
